Video: Lackey Strong As Red Sox Sweep Twins

John Lackey allowed one hit over six innings of work while Dustin Pedroia had three RBIs, including a 2-run homer, as the Boston Red Sox beat the Minnesota Twins 5-1 at Target Field in Minneapolis, MN on Sunday.

The win gave the Red Sox a sweep of the weekend series.

Five Huskies to Represent USA Basketball This Summer

STORRS, Conn. - Five University of Connecticut women's basketball standouts have been selected to compete for USA Basketball this summer on either the World University Games Team or the FIBA U19 World Championship squad.  Bria Hartley and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis made the World University Games Team while Moriah Jefferson, Breanna Stewart and Morgan Tuck were selected to the U19 World Championship team. 

USA BasketballTryouts for the teams took place at the U.S. Olympic Training Center (USOTC) in Colorado Springs, Colo. over the weekend.  The 12-member teams were chosen from a pool of the nation's top players by the USA Basketball Women's Junior National Team Committee, which is chaired by Chattanooga head coach Jim Foster.  33 players tried out for the U19 Team and 33 others tried out for the WUG Team.

The 2013 World University Games women's basketball competition will be held July 8-15 in Kazan, Russia, and the team will regroup in Colorado Springs for training June 25-July 1.  2013 FIBA U19 World Championship, hosted by Lithuania from July 18-28 in Klaipeda and Panevėžys.

Team USA has won five-straight gold medals at the FIBA U19 World Championship and the team has won gold eight times in 16 tries at the World University Games.

All five Huskies have won at least one gold medal with USA Basketball in past years.  Mosqueda-Lewis has won gold at the World Championships as a member of the U16 Team in 2009, the U17 Team in 2010 and the U19 Team in 2011.  Hartley won gold at the 2010 U18 World Championship and the U19 World Championship in 2011.  She also took home gold as a member of the 3x3 National Team in 2012.

Jefferson won gold, along with Tuck and Stewart, at the U18 World Championship in 2012.  Tuck also has gold medals from the 2010 U17 World Championship and the 2011 U19 World Championship.  Stewart has won a total of four gold medals, including the 2011 U19 World Championship, the 2010 U17 World Championship, the 2009 U16 World Championship and the aforementioned 2012 U18 World Championship.

Sunday Red Sox Delight - 5/19

After a 12-5 rout last night, the Boston Red Sox look to go for the sweep this afternoon in the finale of a three-game set with the Minnesota Twins at Target Field in Minneapolis, MN.

First pitch is scheduled for 2:10 p.m. If you live in the Red Sox television market you can catch the game on NESN. If you live in the Twins television market, you can catch the game on Fox Sports North.And if you can't catch the game on television, you can always listen on the 2013 Red Sox Radio Network.

The highest paid member of the Red Sox, John Lackey, makes his sixth start of 2013. In his previous five starts, Lackey is 1-5 with a 4.05 ERA. He took the loss against Twins on May 9th after allowing five runs (one earned) in seven innings of work. He's made 16 career starts against the Twins and is 7-6 with a 3.53 ERA. He picked up the win in his lone Target Field start after allowing two runs in 6.2 innings of work back in  2011.

Pedro Hernandez makes his sixth start (eighth appearance) of 2013. In his previous seven appearances (five starts), Hernandez is 2-0 with a 5.79 ERA. He picked up a no decision in his May 8th start against the Red Sox after allowing six runs in two innings of work. In two career starts against the Red Sox, Hernandez is 0-1 with a 21.00 ERA (14 ER/6 IP).

Afternoon Red Sox Delight - 5/18

After winning in extra innings last night, the Boston Red Sox go for their fourth straight win tonight in the middle game of a three-game set with the Minnesota Twins at Target Field in Minneapolis, MN.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. If you live in the Red Sox television market you can catch the game on NESN. If you live in the Twins television market, you can catch the game on Fox Sports North.And if you can't catch the game on television, you can always listen on the 2013 Red Sox Radio Network.

Ryan Dempster steps on the bump for the ninth time in 2013. In his previous eight starts, Dempster is 2-3 with a 3.75. He took the loss on May 7th against the Twins after allowing four runs (two earned) in seven plus innings of work. He's made five appearances (four starts) against the Twinkies and is 2-2 with a 5.19 ERA. He threw eight shutout innings as a member of the Chicago Cubs to pick up the win in his only Target Field start.

Scott Diamond toes the slab for the seventh time in 2013. In his previous six starts, Diamond is 3-3 with a 4.08 ERA. The Canadian born pitcher was on the winning end of the May 7th matchup after throwing seven scoreless innings which also happened to be his first career start against the Red Sox.
