It’s now time to put the finishing touches on the 2011 MLB season as Baseball Writers’ Association of America (BBWAA) begin presenting their 2011 end of the year awards. First up are the 2011 American League and National League Rookie of the Year.

In the AL, the BBWAA has selected Tampa Bay Rays right handed pitcher JeremyHellickson as it’s 2011 AL Rookie of the Year. And in the NL, they have selected Atlanta Braves closer CraigKimbrel as it’s 2011 NL Rookie of the Year.

Hellickson made 29 starts for the AL Wild Card Rays and was 13-10 with a 2.95 ERA. In case you were wondering, he was 2-1 with a 3.38 ERA in four starts against the Boston Red Sox this season.

Kimbrel made 79 appearances for the Braves and was 4-3 with a 2.10 ERA and 46 saves. His 46 saves were the most in the NL and set the MLB record for saves by a rookie.

Next up in the BBWAA awards will be the AL Cy Young on Tuesday, the AL & NL Managers of the Year on Wednesday and the NL Cy Young on Thursday. The final two awards, the AL & NL MVP will be presented next Monday, November 21st (AL MVP) and Tuesday, November 22nd (NL MVP).
