Because a very loud crackling of thunder probably made them poop their pants judging by their reactions.

Jose Iglesias and David Ortiz each had solo home runs while Clay Buchholz allowed two hits in five innings to help the Boston Red Sox to a six inning rain-shortened win over the New York Yankees on Sunday night at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

Sunday Night Red Sox Delight - 6/2

The start of game has been delayed to weather in the area. The first pitch is now scheduled for 8:50 PM.

Clay Buchholz (L), Hiroki Kuroda (R)

After spanking the New York Yankees last night, the Boston Red Sox look for the series win tonight in the finale of a three-game set at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN. You can also catch the game online at WatchESPN. And if you can't catch the game on television, you can always listen on the 2013 Red Sox Radio Network.

After being skipped in his last start due to a minor injury, Clay Buchholz steps to the bump for the 11th time in 2013. In his previous 10 starts, Buchholz is 7-0 with a 1.73 ERA. He picked up the win in his only start of 2013 against the Yankees after allowing one run in seven innings of work on April 3. He's made 10 career starts against the Evil Empire and is 3-5 with a 6.41 ERA. Six of those starts have come in the Bronx where he is 3-2 with a 6.34 ERA.

Hiroki Kuroda makes his 12th start of 2013 for the Bronx Bombers. In his previous 11 starts, Kuroda is 6-3 with a 2.39 ERA. He took the loss in that April 3rd game after allowing two earned runs in 1.1 innings of work. He's made seven career starts against the Red Sox and is 2-2 with a 3.74 ERA.

Afternoon Red Sox Delight - 6/1

After falling last night, the Boston Red Sox look to get back on track in the middle game of a three-game set with the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. The game will be broadcast nationally on FOX to 57% of the country. And if you can't catch the game on television, you can always listen on the 2013 Red Sox Radio Network.

Felix Doubront steps to the rubber for his ninth start (10th appearance) in 2013. In those nine appearances (eight starts), Doubront is 3-2 with a 5.29 ERA. He made four starts against the Yankees in 2012 and was 1-1 with a 2.52 ERA. He's made eight career appearances (four starts) and is 1-1 with a 2.73 ERA. He's made three appearances (one start) in the Bronx and has no record with a 1.08 ERA (1 ER/8.1 IP).

Phil Hughes makes his 11th start of 2013. In his previous 10 starts, Hughes is 2-3 with a 4.97 ERA. He made four starts against the Red Sox in 2012 and was 3-1 with a 2.03 ERA. Hughes has made 20 career appearances (12 starts) and is 5-6 with a 4.95 ERA.

After splitting their two-game set in the City of Brotherly Love, the Boston Red Sox head to Bronx for three games to finish out the road trip. Tonight they'll take on the New York Yankees in the first game of a three-game set at Yankee Stadium.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. If you live in the Red Sox television market you can catch the game on NESN. If you live in the Yankees television market, you can catch the game on YES. If you don't live in either market you are in luck as MLB Network will have coverage of the game (outside of Red Sox and Phillies markets). And if you can't catch the game on television, you can always listen on the 2013 Red Sox Radio Network.

Lefty Jon Lester heads to the hill for the 12th time in 2013. In his previous 11 starts, Lester is 6-1 with a 3.34 ERA. He picked up the win against the Yankees on Opening Day 2013 when he allowed two runs in five innings of work. He's made 23 career starts against the Evil Empire and is 10-4 with 4.08 ERA. 14 of those starts have come in the Bronx where he is 8-2 with a 3.47 ERA.

CC Sabathia will put a dent in the mound for the 12th time in 2013. in his previous 11 starts, Sabathia is 4-4 with a 3.96 ERA. He took the loss against Lester on Opening Day after allowing four runs in five innings of work. He's made 23 career starts against the Red Sox and is 8-10 with a 4.33 ERA. He is 6-6 with a 4.53 ERA in 16 starts as a member of the Evil Empire against the visiting nine.
