After rallying on Sunday night for the win to tie the 2013 ALCS at 1-1, the Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers do battle this afternoon in Game 3 at Comerica Park in Detroit, MI.
First pitch is scheduled for 4:07 p.m. The game will be broadcast nationally on FOX. NESN will have pregame and postgame coverage as well. And if you can't catch the game on television, you can always listen on the 2013 Red Sox Radio Network.
John Farrell hands the pelota to John Lackey in Game 3. Lackey picked up the win in Game 2 of the ALDS against the Rays after allowing four runs in 5.1 innings of work. He made two starts against the Tigers this season and was 0-1 with a 3.14 ERA (5 ER/14.1 IP). In 12 career regular season starts against the Tigers, Lackey is 6-3 with a 3.86 ERA. Six of those starts have come at Comerica Park where he is 4-1 with a 3.83 ERA.
The Tigers ace, Justin Verlander, will toe the slab in Game 3. He made two starts in the ALDS against the A's and was 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA (0 ER/15 IP). He picked up a no decision in his lone start against the Red Sox this season after allowing four runs in five innings back on June 23. He's made 11 career regular season starts against the visiting nine and is 3-4 with a 3.63 ERA.
