Afternoon Red Sox Delight - 5/1

Written by Ian on .

Clay Buchholz (L), Mark Buehrle (R)

After falling late in the game last night, the Boston Red Sox look to get back on track in the middle game of a three-game set with the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

I'm picking the Red Sox to win (-132) and taking the over (8.5 runs).

First pitch is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. If you live in the Red Sox television market you can catch the game on NESN Plus. If you live in the Blue Jays television market, you can catch the game on Rogers SportsNet. And if you can't catch the game on television, you can always listen on the 2013 Red Sox Radio Network.

Clay Buchholz makes his sixth start of 2013. In his previous five starts, Buchholz is 5-0 with a 1.19 ERA. He last faced the Jays in 2012 when he went 1-1 with a 2.66 ERA in three starts.  He's made 15 career appearances (14 starts) against the home team and is 8-4 with a 2.60 ERA. Nine of those starts have come at Rogers Centre where he is 6-2 with a 1.97 ERA.

Mark Buehrle also makes his sixth start of 2013. In his previous five starts, Buehrle is 1-1 with a 6.35 ERA. He made two starts against the Red Sox in 2012 as a member of the Miami Marlins and was 0-2 with a 6.00 ERA (8 ER/12 IP). He's made 19 career appearances (18 starts) and is 6-8 with a 4.94 ERA.

Afternoon Red Sox Delight - 4/30

Written by Ian on .

Jon Lester (L), Brandon Morrow (R)

After going 7-3 on their last homestand and enjoying a day off on Monday, the Boston Red Sox hit the road for their next six games. They'll kick if off tonight with the first game of a three-game set with the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

I predict the Red Sox will win 7-4 (Red Sox -122).

First pitch is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. If you live in the Red Sox television market you can catch the game on NESN. If you live in the Blue Jays television market, you can catch the game on Rogers SportsNet. And if you can't catch the game on television, you can always listen on the 2013 Red Sox Radio Network.

Jon Lester steps on the slab for the sixth time in 2013. In his previous five starts, Lester is 4-0 with a 2.27 ERA. He picked up the win in his only start against the Jays this season after tossing seven scoreless innings back on April 7. He's made 23 career starts against the Jays and is 12-7 with a 3.67 ERA. 14 of those starts have come north of the border where he is 7-5 with a 3.14 ERA.

Brandon Morrow takes the mound for his sixth start as well of 2013. In his previous five starts, Morrow is 0-2 with a 5.27 ERA. He last faced the Red Sox in 2012 when he picked up a no decision after throwing six scoreless innings. He's made 16 career appearances (eight starts) against the visiting nine and is 1-3 with an 8.28 ERA.

Video: Lackey, Big Papi Lead Red Sox to Sweep of Astros

Written by Ian on .

David Ortiz #34 of the Boston Red Sox singles in a run in the 1st inning during a game with the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park on April 28, 2013 in Boston, Massachusetts.

The Boston Red Sox weren't predicted to make the World Series let alone the playoffs. But if things keep going like this, you never know what might happen.

John Lackey was strong for six innings in his return from the DL while David Ortiz and Stephen Drew each knocked in two runs to help the Red Sox to a 6-1 win over the Houston Astros. The win gave the local nine a four-game sweep of the visiting Astros and increased their winning streak to five games.
