So Manny Ramirez said he was sorry about the way he left the Boston Red Sox and for his fight with Kevin Youkilis in the dugout back in 2009. It took him long enough to do it. Nothing like waiting almost a year and a half.

Manny Ramirez, new team member of the Chicago White Sox, looks on during batting practice prior to the White Sox MLB American League baseball game against the Cleveland Indians in Cleveland, Ohio August 31, 2010.Before Friday night's Red Sox vs Chicago White Sox game that was postponed due to Hurricane Earl, Manny met with the media and offered apologies on a variety of things.

"Everything was my fault, but you have to be a real man to realize when you do wrong," Ramirez said. "It was my fault, right. I already passed that stage. I'm happy. I'm on a new team."

And his apology to Youk came back in June while Manny was on first base when he was with his former club the Los Angeles Dodgers.

"When I went to first base, I told Youkilis, 'What happened between you and me, that's my fault. I'm sorry.' It takes a real man to go and tell a person it was my fault and that's what I did," said Ramirez.

I think the scary part of everything he said was that if Boston had claimed him, he wouldn't have said no.

"What I did here in the past is in the past," said Ramirez. "But if they claimed me, why should I say no?"

Look, Manny was one of my favorite players while he wore the Red Sox uniform. But I can never forgive him for what he did when he left Boston. He's a professional baseball player making $20 million a year at the time and he suddenly decides he doesn't want to play in Boston anymore. I guess that was just Manny being Manny.

Manny says it takes a real man to apologize. Well to me, a real man would have apologized a lot quicker than almost a year and a half.

Look there may come a day when what Manny did will be forgiven by Red Sox Nation. But if he is looking for cheers at Fenway Park this weekend, I highly doubt he'll get them.

After all, the Fenway Park faithful did forgive Bill Buckner giving him a very long standing ovation before the 2008 opener so I guess anything is possible.

And I have to wonder, was this song below playing in Manny's head when he offered his apologies???
