Here's the press release from the Boston Red Sox about honoring Mike Lowell during the October 2nd game against the New York Yankees:
The Boston Red Sox have designated October 2, 2010 as “Thanks, Mike Night” at Fenway Park to honor infielder Mike Lowell as he retires from baseball after a remarkable 13-year career (1998 – New York Yankees, 1999-2005 – Florida Marlins, 2006-2010 – Boston Red Sox). The four-time All-Star will be honored during pre-game ceremonies, which will include a special tribute to Lowell’s time in a Red Sox uniform. The three-time World Series champion played a key role in the Red Sox’ 2007 World Series win and was named the World Series Most Valuable Player that year.
Fans of Red Sox Nation can participate by attending the game or by posting their well wishes for Lowell at this website- http://www.redsox.com/thanksmike.
A fitting way for Lowell to end his career against the team he started with and the one he'll finish with.
