The hometown kid, Manny Delcarmen, will no longer call Boston home, at least during the baseball season as he's heading west to play in the Rocky Mountain air.
The Pride of Hyde Park was traded today by the Boston Red Sox to the Colorado Rockies along with cash considerations for RHP Chris Balcolm-Miller.
MDC had been a fixture in the Red Sox bullpen since the 2006 season and has struggled at times during the last two seasons. During the 2010 season, Delcarmen has made 48 appearances and has a 3-2 record with a 4.70 ERA. In six seasons with the Red Sox, MDC was 11-6 with three saves and a 3.89 ERA.
Balcolm-Miller was drafted by the Rockies in the 6th round of the 2009 MLB Draft and has spent the 2010 season with the Asheville Tourists of the South Atlantic League. In 19 starts for them, he was 6-7 with a 3.31 ERA. During the 2009 season, Balcolm-Miller was the Pioneer League Pitcher of the Year after going 4-0 with a 1.58 ERA in 11 starts for the Casper Ghosts.
